NEWS RELEASE
SPRING COMDEX, MAY 20, 1991
ARTISOFT INITIATES NEW VOICE DEVELOPER SUPPORT PROGRAM
TUCSON, Ariz. -- May 20, 1991)--Artisoft's new program
promotes and supports application developers using it's Voice
Programmer's Interface to create applications compatible with
Artisoft's Sounding Board adapters.
"Voice is a fundamental way of communicating in business yet
computer users have been forced to use less effective means,"
said Rick Kraus, Artisoft's Product Manager for Voice. "Our
Sounding Board makes voice communications affordable for
every business and this support program is designed to put
voice into thousands of applications."
The Artisoft Voice Developer Program allows participants to
receive %50 off-retail discount on all Artisoft products (not
for resale) up to $5,000 in purchases per year. Developers
will also receive access to a private developer conference on
Artisoft's Artifacts Bulletin Board System, access to
Artisoft's Compatibility Testing Labs up to 2 weeks per year
maximum, and access to Artisoft's technical experts. Free
unlimited phone and electronic support is available to all
registered users of Artisoft products.
Participants in Artisoft's Voice Developer Program will also
receive early notification of product updates, new product
releases, and free updates of Artisoft software which the
developer is supporting in their product. Developers may
also participate in a variety of cooperative marketing vehicles
with Artisoft and have their products display the "Supports the
Sounding Board" seal.
All current registered users of the Artisoft VPI are eligible
to apply for participation in the Artisoft's Voice Developer
Program. Once accepted, applicants can receive the support
and promotional benefits of the program.
Artisoft's Voice Programmer's Interface is a set of simple
software commands that interface to the Artisoft Sounding
Board adapter and allows developers to quickly and easily add
high-fidelity sound effects, including speech and music, to
software programs.
The Sounding Board adapter is a low-cost, IBM compatible
expansion adapter that converts between audio/voice signals
and a digital data stream. It can be used with Artisoft's
LANtastic local area network to provide voice mail or used
independently with applications developed by programmers with
Artisoft's Voice Programmer's Interface.
Artisoft's Sounding Board adapter includes a telephone-style
handset and sells for $99 each for the ISA version and $199
for Micro Channel.
Artisoft offers a full product line of low-cost, award-
winning software and hardware for local area network
communications.
Developers interested in developing applications with
Artisoft's Sound and voice products or anyone interested in
the Artisoft product line should contact Artisoft, Inc.,
Artisoft Plaza, 575 E. River Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.
